Below is the standard deduction for 2007.
For most taxpayers, the 2007 standard deduction amounts are shown in the following chart.

The above standard deduction for 2007 cannot be used if:
- the taxpayer was born before January 2, 1943 or if
- the taxpayer is blind, or if
- someone else can claim an exemption for the taxpayer or his or her spouse in case of married filing jointly.
When the above criteria are satisfied, use the standard deduction for 2007 as shown below instead.
